Sister Act - Challenge #38

Just Some Lines is our sponsor at the Sister Act Challenge Blog.   All of the DT used one of their images, so I hope you will check out their work on the Sister Act blog.

My card uses an image called Emo Snowflake.  I added a few other die cut snowflakes and used white embossing powder on a PTI sentiment.  The snowflakes on the image have Stickles on them for a little sparkle and compliments the glitter paper I used for the die cut snowflakes.

Sister Act will be on a holiday break for the next two weeks.  We all wish a happy holiday to you and your family.  We'll be back again on January 10th with our 39th anything goes challenge!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #289

Sketch Saturday is back with Simon Says Stamp! sponsoring our two week challenge for you in honor of the Christmas holidays. This time, you have the opportunity to pick any sketch from #215 until now.  I decided to use one of the sketches from before I joined the team and had fun making a decision about which one to use.  I finally settled on Sketch #239.

The wreath is another use of PTI's Rustic Wreath. You can probably see the little red seed beads I added around the wreath.  The photo doesn't pick up the Stickles.  The bottom strip is from another PTI stamp I bought called Christmas Joy.  I stamped it on patterned paper and used white embossing powder. Carolyn Draws is the illustrator of the Dear Santa stamp in the center of the wreath.  It's an unmounted red rubber stamp from Purple Onion Designs.

You'll see a variety of sketches being used from the DT this week, so be sure to stop by the blog.    We all wish you and your family a blessed holiday season.  See you back with a new sketch December 28th.

Challenges Entered:

Sister Act - Challenge #37

Christmas is creeping up and I am trying not to panic.  I'm not sure if making Christmas cards is making feel like I have everything under control or causing me a little anxiety!  I think I'd better start making my own lists!

The Sister Act Challenge Blog is here for another week with Stamp and Create as our sponsor.   I've been on a Birdie Brown kick lately with my cards.  I happened to buy a few of her digital Christmas images before Torico closed her Etsy shop at the end of November.  This little elf is such a cutie and was pretty quick to color.  You'll see him come back again in another card next week.

Color Me Creative Challenge #83 - Holiday Theme

Color Me Creative is having a month long worth of festivities in December.  There are games, a number of sponsors, and great prizes and more than one winner!  If you click on the CMC announcement to the right, it will take you right to the blog so you can play along.

Our current CMC challenge has a holday theme, and runs through January 2nd.  Linking up a holiday card is one way to throw your name in the hat to win one of the great prizes.

I used some scrap drawer polka dot paper and Christmas choices from a 6x6 Crate Paper pad for my card.  The heat embossed sentiment is from PTI, and the sweet gingerbread house image is from Birdie Brown. I am late to the Birdie Brown party and I have to say that coloring the images is great - the way she draws her illustrations gives clues for shading. I really appreciate that. Unfortunately, Torico closed her shop at the end of November.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #288

The weekend means another great sketch from the Sketch Saturday blog.  I had so much fun combining two different digital images to create the scene for my card.  The little boy is a Sassy Cheryl Stamps' creation called That's HOT!  The winter fence is a digi from Make It Crafty - which, in addition to their digi stamps is a fabulous resource for tutorials.

Both of the images came together from a CASE of this card from a fellow card-making blogger, Chrissy.  I let her know that I would be creating a card based on her cutie - and found that she made another card this week with the fence and a Sassy Cheryl girl image.

7 Dots Studio is sponsoring Sketch Saturday this week.  I hope you will drop by the blog and see what our fabulous DT has for you and play along with Marzena's fun sketch.

MN has officially launched into winter with lots of snow and cold temps, thinking about about Christmas is right on the front of my mind!  This card uses a PTI set called Rustic Wreath.  It was a simple card to make - just the little bit of coloring, some red seed beads, heat embossing, and a few buttons were all that was needed.

Digital Delights by Louby Loo is this week's sponsor at the Sister Act Challenge Blog.  Take at look at what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us this week.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #287

My card for Sketch Saturday this week used supplies I've had since 2005!  The sentiments in the circles are actually Making Memories rub-ons I bought on sale after Christmas and squirreled away in my Christmas stash.  I put red rhinestones around the circles to give a little visual interest and used red seed beads from my jewelry making supply box on the scalloped border at the bottom.  A layered bow, button, and die cut snowflake are the finishing touches.  Milk Coffee is this week's sponsor.  I hope you'll check out the other Sketch Saturday DT creations and then play along.

Sister Act - Challenge #35

Needless to say, with the Thanksgiving holiday yesterday, I had to work ahead this week for the Sister Act Challenge Blog.  This is a card I made for a little boy I know who is a new big brother of a baby sister.  This sweet elephant is a digi from All Dressed Up.  I used my computer to create the sentiment in the cloud.  Digi Darla Designs is this week's sponsor.

I've got to get back to my company.  We had 20 people for Thanksgiving dinner and 16 spent the night!  There were bodies in every nook and cranny, but the folks are my kids, their spouses, grandkids, and my mom and her husband,  My husband and I wouldn't have it any other way!  If you celebrated, I hope your Thanksgiving was full of love, thanks and family.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #286

Welcome back to Sketch Saturday for another great sketch to try your hand at this week. Bugaboo Stamps is our sponsor.

This sweet rustic wreath is a stamp and matching die from Papertrey Ink.  I spent some time puttering around lining the stamp up with the die, wishing I had paid attention a little more in my geometry class!  I used the die to cut the wreath out of the card front, and then attached a colored die cut wreath to the inside of the card.  Eventually things came together, but it took me the better part of a night!

Red Stickles decorate the berries and red rhinestone are attached to the glitter paper snowflakes.

Sister Act Challenge #34

Another anything goes challenge at the Sister Act Card Blog this week!  Ink and Whimsy2 is sponsoring.

My card uses an image from a company that is new to me - All Dressed Up Stamps.  The etsy shop is owned by artist, Wendy Burns.  I found ADU by accident one Saturday morning, and while in my pajamas managed to spend a "chunk of change" between cups of coffee!  It was one of those mornings, where after looking at the blogs and cards of one of her her talented DT members, I found myself still at the computer three hours later - having shopped at Whimsy Stamps for the Raindrop Echo Sentiment digi where the sentiment came from), and purchased some stamps from Purple Onion Stamps.  Yikes!

DT member, Marilyn inspired me to create my card, from this one.  (I blame her for the money I spent too!!  Don't you just love enablers?!?)  Do you see the cute yellow print paper?  It's a digi from All Dressed Up.  For a little more than a dollar, I got four sweet patterned papers.  I've never bought digital paper before, but for the price, I thought it was worth trying.  There happened to be a piece of yellow cardstock in the printer, so the paper has a yellow background.  I love it printed on white, and thought it looked cute on the yellow too!

Copics used:
Hair:  E50, 31, 25, 29
Skin:  E000, 00, 11, R20
Top:  E50, 51, 53; bow E07, 09

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #285

I'm using an old favorite stamp called Sunflower Bouquet from Papertrey Ink for my Sketch Saturday card this week.  I stamped the image on some SU! newsprint and colored with my Copics.  The colors are off a bit - the ribbon is Stampin' Up!'s Dusty Durango.  I still have a few birthday cards to give this month, so this one will do nicely.

Bunny Zoe's Crafts is this week's sketch challenge sponsor.  Hope to see your card on the Sketch Saturday Blog.  The DT did another fabulous job this week of interpreting Jen's great sketch.

Challenges Entered:
Use it Tuesday - Stick it!

Sister Act Challenge #33

This week, Rick St. Dennis is sponsoring the anything goes challenge at the Sister Act Challenge Blog.

I used his image Euro Girl Pauline for my card and combined it with sketch #319 from Mojo Monday.  I've been using fall and winter colored cards lately, and went back to a more summer colored card.  I wanted to piece Pauline's dress with All Dressed Up's Autumn Papers 1 digi paper I bought.  Another advantage of digi paper is that it can be sized.  I accidentally printed a smaller pattern, but it was perfect for the card.

Copics used:
Hat:  E50, 51, 53, R14, 27
Tights:  R11, 14, 27
Hair:  E 33, 27, 29

Color Me Creative - Winter Theme Challenge

We've posted a new challenge at Color Me Creative - a winter theme/colors.  I used an image from our sponsor, Stamp Fairy.  This is sweet Molly.  I loved the cardinal in her hand.

Our family has a special love of cardinals that started with my mother-in-law's affection for them.  She passed away more than a decade ago, so stories about "Grandma Claire"and cardinals have been handed down to my grandkids by their parents.  I usually find a special cardinal ornament for my daughters and sister-in-law at Christmas.  It helps all of us feel connected to the memories.  This card will go to my six year old granddaughter who has joined the cardinal lovers and is excited each time she sees one.

I hope you'll stop by CMC and see what the other DT members have created.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #284

Back again with another card for you from Sketch Saturday.  This image brought back fond memories of being a little girl for me.  We spent many hours sailing down the hills on our toboggan when I was in elementary school.  We piled as many kids and adults as would fit and screamed all of the way down the run!

The image, Smooth Sailing, from Sassy Cheryl Stamps was perfect  for this week's sketch.  The hills sparkle thanks to my bottle of Stickles, so you can imagine it being a dry, sunny winter day!  Simon Says Stamp is this week's sponsor.  They have a $25 credit for one lucky winner!  Check out the fabulous DT cards on the Sketch Saturday Blog.

Sister Act Challenge #32

Friday means it's time for another anything goes challenge at the Sister Act Challenge Blog.  The etsy shop Wings and Willows is sponsoring the challenge this week.

My image is from another etsy shop, Birdie Brown.  It was a free October image, but I didn't get my act together in time to post it in their October Challenge.  Unfortunately, Torico, the talented artist behind Birdie Brown is closing the shop at the end of November.  She wants to have more time to create and will continue to work on illustrating for There She Goes Stamps. You can read more about her decision to close her shop on her blog.  I only recently discovered the Birdie Brown site, and am sad to see the shop close.  I've purchased several digis, which you will see on my blog in the coming weeks.

I used this week's sketch from Retro Sketches for my card.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #283

Here's another new sketch for you to try at the Sketch Saturday Blog.  I love the many ways the DT interpreted the sketch.  Clearly Besotted Stampis our sponsor and the prize is stamp set of your choice.  That's quite an incentive!

I'm trying to use up scraps from my drawer and card fronts I created but ended up not using.  This card helped deplete both piles!  I used a Sassy Cheryl image, Maddie and Her Prize Pumpkin for my card.

I look forward to seeing how you all interpret the sketch.  Remember what they say - you have to play to win!  Good luck!

Sister Act - Challenge #31

The digi shop Meljens Designs is the sponsor for this week's Sister Act Challenge.  I used one of their images called Penguin's Little Letter for my card.  There are lots of Stickles on this card, you can see them the best on the hat and in the snow.

The penguin is paired with an MFT large  snowflake die and smaller ones from Impression Obsession.  I finally broke out my "hello" script die from Memory Box.  It's a lot skinnier than I thought it would be, but works well.

Take a look at what the rest of the DT created and then post a card of your own!

Color Me Creative Challenge #80 - Masculine Card Challenge

It's time for a new Challenge at Color Me Creative.  This one is the guy/masculine challenge.  I used an image called Slugger Sam from our sponsor  Dr. Digi.  The site has super-fun male images.

My intention with this image was push myself with coloring - and I did!  The white uniform was tricky in creating midtones and for shading.  I used my light C's .  I also worked to add ripples to his clothes and giving his uniform stripes!

This card is for my grandson's 13th birthday.  He's a big Minnesota Twins fan, so from the outset, I was determined to mirror the Twins uniform.  I googled the Twins and looked for images of players and coaches in a bit of a side view to see how the logo would look on the uniform. Unfortunately nobody had Sam's big belly, so I had to do a little guessing!  I'm pleased with the coloring and how the card turned out!

I used this week's Sketch Challenge (#459) at Splitcoast Stampers for my card design.  It was a perfect compliment for the bold Slugger Sam image.

Now it's your turn - get your guy/masculine cards going and link your card up at Color Me Creative.  You have until November 8th.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #282

How cute is this sweet little trick-or-treater? She reminds me of one of my granddaughters! I promise that this is my last Halloween card! Between the witches and the other trick-or-treaters, I have plenty of cards to send out to all of the grandkids.  I have a feeling they would be happier with candy!

Sketch Saturday is being sponsored by Stamp Fairy this week and this candy corn darling is one of their digi images called Mimi Halloween.

I fussy cut her and mounted her with pop dots.  The card seemed to need something, so I did a little fancy folding with a piece of black and white gingham ribbon.  It kind of reminds me of ribbon candy!

Take a look at what the DT did with the sketch and then play along with us this week yourself!

Sister Act Challenge #30

This week's Sister Act Challenge is sponsored by Digi Darla Designs.  I've used their Sunny Sunflower image for my card.    I just ordered a batch of sequins and thought I would add them to my card.  Setting them in place so there is visual appeal can be tricky.  I think this works.

The camera picked up a lot more orange in the flower than one sees with the human eye, but it sure adds depth to the image.

Hope you will stop by and play with our anything goes challenge this week.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #281

Back again with another great sketch for you from Sketch Saturday.  This week our sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs.

I had a little help from a friend with this card.  I received this image several weeks ago from Kristy Kroll over at Tiddly Inks.  (By the way, she is available for just $1.00). I knew I would use her for a card around Halloween  Then viola, Trisha S., my friend and fellow DT member at the Sister Act Blog used the same witch!  I hadn't thought of adding shadows to create ripples in the skirt and haven't had much practice with it.  Luckily, the power of the internet came through for me again!  I printed Trisha's witch and used it as a tutorial for my own card. Many thanks to Trisha and her excellent coloring skills.  I love how this came out, including that fun red hair!
