CAS Colours & Sketches #235 - Sketch Challenge

This week Patricia has a sketch challenge for us on the CAS Colours and Sketches Blog.  I rotated the sketch and decided to use an adorable image from Dilly Beans' creative artist Megan Suarez, called Amalia Flower Fairy for the shape.  I took Patricia at her word when she said "any non-rectangular shape" - and cropped the image on the right side of the page.  The sentiment is computer generated for a friend who is a new grandma.

Take a peek at the DT's take on the sketch and then play along with us this week!  Hope to see you in the gallery.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #297

Vannessa's sketch this week for Sketch Saturday was perfect for Raine, this sweet Dilly Beans image.  It also allowed me to try something former Guest DT Member Mary J does so well - popping out the card front, fussy cutting the image, and then mounting it outside of the die cut circle.

Dilly Beans is right up there in my Top 5 favorite sites for digital images.  Artist, Megan Suarez's "Big Eye Girl" collection has so many images that are fun to color.  Now is the time to make a purchase. . .  she's having a BOGO offer until February 16th!

Stop by the Sketch Saturday blog for inspiration and then play along with us this week for a chance to win your own set of digital images from our sponsor, Dilly Beans!

Stick It Down - February Card Sketch Challenge

Back again for our second card sketch challenge at Stick It Down Blog.  Our Guest DT member from last month's challenge is Ardilla.   I am so glad Ardilla accepted our invitation and hope you stop by her blog and leave a little love for her.  We're a new and growing challenge blog for scrapbooking and card making.  Our card challenges are the second Tuesday of each month, so spread the word to other card makers and enter the challenge!

I've used a Dilly Beans image, #432 Elly Framed for my card.  It's the same image, but smaller size and different colors as the shaker card that I made in my last post.  I love these big eyed girls.  They are so versatile and make a lovely card. Play along with us at Stick it Down.  You have until February 17th to link up your card.  I can't wait to see your take on the sketch!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #296

Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring Jen's sketch this week for Sketch Saturday.  I decided to go big on this one, so my card is larger than 4.25 x 5.5.  I used a  Dilly Beans  image called  #432 Elly Framed.  The eyes and hair were so much fun to color.  I used the sketch to create a shaker card for Valentine's Day; this one for my oldest grandaughter.  The girls were at my house when I was coloring and patiently stood and let me see where light was reflected on their faces. Being able to study them helped me in the coloring, especially around the eyes and nose.  Hope you'll join us this week at Sketch Saturday.  Pop by the blog and see what Guest DT member Marilyn and the rest of the gals have done with this week's sketch!

Color Me Creative #86 - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Silly Dilly Beans is CMC's Challenge sponsor for the next two weeks.  I am in love with artist, Megan Suarez's fun images.  I chose Rosie #237 for my card.  I really wanted to keep Rosie the focal point. Each time I tried something new, or a little busier paper, Rosie faded into the overall card.  I decided to use the dark brown embossed background and kept papers and embellishments fairly simple.  Stop by the Color Me Creative blog and see what the other DT members created . . . simply amazing!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #292

Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring this week's challenge at Sketch Saturday.

I used a Dilly Beans image for my card called, Penguin in Scarf #522.  I decided to use masculine colors and papers to use for a male birthday card.  It was a pretty quick and simple image to color.

I hope you play along with our fun sketch this week!

Sketch Saturday #279

Our own DT member, Lizy is sponsoring Sketch Saturday this week!  Lizy is an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator and has a lovely gift for this week's winner.

If you are a regular visitor to my blog, I promised you other versions of this witch.  You can read more about my hat coloring toils and troubles in last week's post.  This little witchy  (from Dilly Beans Stamps - Candy Witch Framed #241) doesn't have green makeup.  Most of the papers are from an old My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad of Halloween paper, except for the two flags.

I can't wait to see how you interpret Lizy's sketch this week.  Have fun!

By the way - the Operation Write Home Blog Hop is going on through the month of October.

Sister Act Challenge # 26

Another Friday, which means a new anything goes challenge at the Sister Act Challenge Blog.  We have two sponsors  Digi Darla Designs and QKR Stampede and that means two winners will be chosen!

I'm using a Dilly Beans image for my card this week.  This one is called Candy Witch Framed (#241).  I actually had a hard time coloring her hat.  I think it was because I had to jump from a C5 to a C9.  I tried to create the mid-color by inking my C5 with the C9. I was working on fast drying paper, and the hat is a bit big for that technique.

The black patterned papers are oldies from My Mind's Eye.  There are lots of details that my camera didn't pick up.  I used Crystal Effects on the candy to give it dimension and make it shine.  Sequins are in the center of each of the circles on the orange paper. Stickles adorn the white circles behind the witch as well as her hat band and eye lids.  The words are printer generated using the Courier New font and doodled around to create rectangles.  The idea is a CASE from Dilly Bean's artist, Megan Suarez.

I created three different versions, trying a little something different with the shading on each.  This one has the light coming from the upper left.  I ended up using my white gel pen to create highlights.  Keep an eye out for me to post one of the other versions in the coming weeks.

I'll have two extra posts this week - one is for Color Me Creative on the 29th and another post on October 2nd.  I'm part of a Blog Hop for Operation Write Home.  Hope you'll stop back.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #267

Jen is this week's sketch master.

I had a great time with this one!  I went through my pile of patterned paper this week and decided to break into some new pieces that I've had around for a while.  I loved the flowered background with the polka dot.  The card is mounted on PTI's soft stone, which was a beautiful compliment to the patterned papers.

Thanks to one of the blogs I visited a few weeks ago, I discovered the Dilly Beans Blog which sells digis by artist Megan K. Suarez.  Go check her out!  Her work is fabulous and she is a sweetie, too.  This angel is from her "big-eyed girl" collection.  Love it!!

My angel is colored with Copics and popped out on top of the oval.  You can't tell from the photo, but I used Smoosh ink on her wings to give them a little pearly shine.  I used the Courier New font on my computer for the words.

Simon Says Stamp!  is our sponsor this week.  Hope you will make some time to play along with us!

Summer Card Class - Day 1 is Finally Here!

I'm on vacation, so can I tell you how excited I am that it's the first day of Online Card Classes' Summer Card Camp?!?   I can spend the whole day in my craft room if I want!!

The Summer Card Camp week's color focus for week 1 and a few sketches to play with were revealed today.  The featured colors are: white, turquoise, red, yellow and orange; the challenge to use four of the five colors.

For my card, I chose a digi from the Dilly Beans Blog by artist Megan K. Suarez.  Megan's work is new to me and I quickly found four adorable images to buy.   I adapted her angel by removing the wings and giving her a full eyebrow so I could create a Frida Kahlo card.  I used clear embossing powder for my Woodland Park  background stamp (by October Afternoon) and then rubbed red, yellow and turquoise inks over it to create my background.  Farida is colored with Copics and cut out.  I created the words on my computer using Courier New font and then doodled boxes around them.  The diagonal yellow paper is popped out in front of Frida.

This isn't my usual style, but I love how she turned out!
