Sketch Saturday - Sketch #313

Recipe for trouble:  Take a lovely sketch, print a cute image too big to fit the sketch and color it before thinking about the overall card!

Yikes!  I think I spent more time trying to fix the problem I created than it would have taken me to color a whole new image in a smaller size!  I started with a horizontal A2 card and thought I could make it work.  I monkeyed around and adapted the sketch a bit (Sorry, Alex!), but it just didn't fit. Back to the drawing board (at about 11:30 p.m.- on a work night) and start over with a bigger card base.  The trouble was, I needed a 12x12 piece of plain cardstock (which I don't have in great supply).  Obviously I got the card done, and the good news is I have a nice A2 card back with sweet little trees as a background waiting to be used for a future card.  I'm sure we all have stories like this!

Anyway, Alex is our lovely sketch designer this week for Sketch Saturday.  Sassy Cheryl Stamps is the sponsor.  This is her sweet image, Freedom, featuring her character named Noah.  Stop by the blog to see how successfully the other DT members were using the sketch for their cards!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #288

The weekend means another great sketch from the Sketch Saturday blog.  I had so much fun combining two different digital images to create the scene for my card.  The little boy is a Sassy Cheryl Stamps' creation called That's HOT!  The winter fence is a digi from Make It Crafty - which, in addition to their digi stamps is a fabulous resource for tutorials.

Both of the images came together from a CASE of this card from a fellow card-making blogger, Chrissy.  I let her know that I would be creating a card based on her cutie - and found that she made another card this week with the fence and a Sassy Cheryl girl image.

7 Dots Studio is sponsoring Sketch Saturday this week.  I hope you will drop by the blog and see what our fabulous DT has for you and play along with Marzena's fun sketch.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #284

Back again with another card for you from Sketch Saturday.  This image brought back fond memories of being a little girl for me.  We spent many hours sailing down the hills on our toboggan when I was in elementary school.  We piled as many kids and adults as would fit and screamed all of the way down the run!

The image, Smooth Sailing, from Sassy Cheryl Stamps was perfect  for this week's sketch.  The hills sparkle thanks to my bottle of Stickles, so you can imagine it being a dry, sunny winter day!  Simon Says Stamp is this week's sponsor.  They have a $25 credit for one lucky winner!  Check out the fabulous DT cards on the Sketch Saturday Blog.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #283

Here's another new sketch for you to try at the Sketch Saturday Blog.  I love the many ways the DT interpreted the sketch.  Clearly Besotted Stampis our sponsor and the prize is stamp set of your choice.  That's quite an incentive!

I'm trying to use up scraps from my drawer and card fronts I created but ended up not using.  This card helped deplete both piles!  I used a Sassy Cheryl image, Maddie and Her Prize Pumpkin for my card.

I look forward to seeing how you all interpret the sketch.  Remember what they say - you have to play to win!  Good luck!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #271

It's another Sketch Saturday challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamps!  $25 to use in their online shop may have your name on it.  You just have to play along with our sketch this week!

I am using a digi from Sassy Cheryl Stamps.  It's called Patience Secret.  I think this is the cutest! The sentiment comes with it and the second line is, "for her secret is patience."  It's a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I seem to be on a blonde hair coloring kick lately.  I used a new color combination on this girl.  I started with Y23, Y11, E50 and then added some E33.  I like to see contrast rather than blended hair, so the E33 helped bring in some darker tones.

This sketch was a tricky one for me!  I had to draw the shape.  My years as a first grade teacher came in handy.  I remembered our container of pattern blocks and that the hexagon can be made with 6 triangles, so all I had to do was create the right sized triangle.  Don't look too closely though, because all of my sides aren't even.

Since you aren't looking too closely - I'd be grateful if you didn't notice the bleeding around the hair ribbon from my Copics.  I tried to push the ink with my colorless blender, but I am using Walmart cardstock and it's trickier to do.  I promise you don't notice it much on the card.  (Darn that camera eye!)

I pulled our my V00 for shading on her face because her shirt any bow use violets.  The other colors I used were E000, E00, E11 & R20.  The grass is an assortment of YG Copics -YG67 is the darkest.

Have fun with the sketch; I can't wait to see your creations!
