SPD - February ProjectPea Blog Hop

I had so many ideas I was thinking about to share with you for the February Project Pea Blog Hop.  I knew I wanted to use the SugarPea's Tin Can Chat stamp set so I decided to create an easel Post-it holder with a matching beaded pen.  Do you remember when beaded pens were all the rage in the stamping community?  I still have supplies for them, so I pulled out some mini pens, the micro-beads and adhesive sheets.  I am planning to give this to my second grade granddaughter, so the pen was a no-brainer!






You'll need to start with a heavy weight card stock for the easel and the notepad holder.  I used Gina K's 120 lb. and it was super-sturdy.

Step 1:

To make the easel, cut your card stock 10.5" x 4.5" and then score at 5", 5.5" & 8.

Step 2:
To make the notepad holder, cut your card stock 4 1/8" x 4 1/8".
Score each side at 1/2".  Cut on one of the score lines for each corner to create a folded tab for when you construct the box.







Step 3:
Add your patterned papers to the easel base and 3 of the box sides.  I cut 1 pieces of green card stock 4 7/8" x 4 3/8" the patterned paper is 4 3/4" x 4 1/4".  For the box sides, I cur three pieces of green card stock 3" x 3/8" and 3 pieces of                                                                                                    pattered paper slightly smaller - about 2 7/8" x 1/4".

Pen Supplies:
Scrapbook Adhesives Adhesive Sheets
Clear Microbeads
Staples Mini Gel Pens

To make the pen:
Measure the barrel section to be covered.  For my mini pen (from Staples), I used a piece of patterned paper 2" x 1 1/4".  The paper was adhered to the pen with ScoreTape, and then I rolled a 2" x 1 1/2" section of double-sided adhesive sheet over the paper on the barrel.

After pulling off outside layer of protective paper, it's time to roll the pen in the micro-beads.  My micro beads are stored in an old SU clamshell box.

SPD February Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop . . . It's Fairy Sweet!

I had so much fun using my envelope punch board (epb)for the January Project Pea Hop, I brought it out again for this one.  UK blogger, Pootles (Sam Hammond Donald) has so many adorable epb projects and a YouTube channel to show how to make her clever creations! Here's her video of how to make the "bag in a box".  

I love the Fairy Sweet Stamp Set and have been thinking of a zillion ways to use it!  It's a fun stamp to use to adorn my "bag in a box"!  If you follow my blog, you'll know I always color more than one image to use for practice and experimentation. I started coloring the hair of this fairy for the card I made here, so I just finished her up and fussy cut* her to pop out on the box.  I gave her a haircut to look like a bob and colored what are meant to be long, flowing curls to look like cascading ribbons from her head piece.  I then created a little card to go along using other stamps from the Fairy Sweet set and the heart strip from the Build A Background Stamp Set from the new Sweet Incentive Program.  The set can be yours before it's available to purchase in the March release!

*Can you spot the place I forgot to finish cutting?!?!  I didn't notice until I was writing the blog post.  Oops!

January ProjectPea Blog Hop

Welcome to the January ProjectPea Blog Hop!

I'm so glad you stopped to take a look at the fun project I have for you on the Hop!  Since Valentine's Day is coming quickly, I thought I'd show you something that is cute, easy to make, and holds a small treat.

Last November, ProjectPea teamie, Lisa Lara was a brilliant enabler by creating such a cute project using an envelope punch board that I needed to buy one immediately!  I had such good intentions of using it, but it sat untouched, in my craft room until today!


It's a fun tool to use and there are so many fabulous projects folks have made.  One of my favorites was created by Sam Hammond Donald.  So let's get started with making the treat box!




Start with a 6 x 6" piece of paper.
Line up your paper at 1 3/4". Punch & score.
Slide your paper over to 3 1/8". Punch & score.
Slide paper over to 4 1/2".  Punch & score.











Turn your paper to the next side and line up the first score line with the the little arrow-tip, punch & score.  Do this on each score line on this side and the remaining two sides.

Here's what the paper looks like when it's all punched and scored.










As with most boxes, there are sections you will cut off.  I've marked the spots you'll cut with an "X".  On the long side, you'll cut one more square to the score line.

(*On my first couple of trials, my next step was cutting off the tabs I didn't need, which seemed logical but I messed up the stamping and had to start again!  Eventually, I wised-up and stamped before I cut.)

The punched and scored 6 x 6 paper for my box is stamped and ready to be trimmed.  I masked the shovels to stamp the bottom border and the mini heart stamps on the sides.  Doesn't the striped border look like Washi tape?!?






The picture below is the box after I trimmed it and the two end flaps have the corners rounded with the Envelope Punch Board.

 Fold on the score lines and tape the marked flaps.  Your box is ready to be assembled. . .

































  . . . and your treats added.  This box is the perfect size for two of the tiny one bite candy bars.  Enough to take care of a sweet tooth, but not go crazy!

 I used the Special Delivery stamp set to create my border and for the heart background.  The shovel is from Classroom Cupids, and I pulled out the SugarCuts Heart Border die to make the string of five little hearts.  If you have an eagle eye, you'll also notice the tiny heart from the SugarCuts Heart Journal Card.

Once you get the knack, this little box is super-quick to make and goes perfectly with the SugarPea stamps!
