Sketch Saturday - Sketch #393

Welcome to our first sketch challenge for 2016, Sketch Saturday fans!  Our DT Call was a fabulous success!  We had so many wonderful folks to choose from that Sketch Saturday has more than doubled our DT.  We're excited for you to get to know all of our new folks over the coming weeks.

Sami Stamps is sponsoring this week.  My card uses Winter Cocoa. Alex's sketch inspired me to make a tryptic with the image.  It was fun to figure out where to make the cuts.  I paper pieced the coat, doodled the inside black lines, shaded with my Copics and added some Wink of Stella for sparkle.

Taylor Expressions' cable knit embossing folder created a great background panel.  A couple of snowflakes and a sentiment from my stash found their way onto this card. Love it when that happens!

Take a peek at the DT's cards and play along with the Sketch Saturday gals this week!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #385

It's the fifth Saturday of October, so that means your choice for a sketch to use!  Take a peek at the sketches from #215-375 and choose one for your card. I love these weeks - it's such a treat to go back and look through the old sketches.  There are some goodies!

Sami Stamps is our sponsor and the winner will receive a credit for $12 in her shop.  I've used her image called A Bundle of Dreams and combined it with Sketch #276 (from 2013).  The oval was the perfect shape for this image.  One would never know I'm not a purple gal by looking at my past few posts!  I've enjoyed playing around with combining my Copic BVs and Vs lately to given some color variation and kept it going for this baby card.

Play along with us this week.  Here's what the Sketch Saturday DT colored up for you to get you started!

SketchSaturday - Sketch #364

How can it be the first Saturday in JUNE, already?!?  Time seems to be moving a lot quicker lately, but no matter the date, it's Saturday and that means a new sketch challenge.   Sami Stamps is our sponsor.  I am using one of her winter images, called Comfy Cocoa.  I tried to create a scene and make it appear that she's sitting on the floor looking out of a window.  I know I don't have the window area right, but the scene creted a story for her in my head - peacufully looking out the window with a cup of coffee - mmmm, blissful.  Speaking of blissful, come and join our Sketch Saturday challenge this week!  What could be better than some time creating?

Creative Knockouts #89 - Washi Tape

Sami Stamps is the sponsor for this week's Creative Knockouts Challenge.  We're using washi tape for this challenge!  I found some 5x5" sheets of washi at Michaels and cut it to give it the tape look for the yellow chevron.  It's perfect with the black and white polka dot washi and and this sweet little cat called Flower Whiskers.  I added a computer generated sentiment and die cut it in a speech bubble, put some Stickles on the flowers and added 3 sequins.

Come and see what the rest of the Creative Knockouts DT has created and join us for our Washi Tape challenge!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #355

Sketch Saturday is sponsored by Sami Stamps this week.  Sami's work has long, beautiful, sweet lines as you can see in this image, Butterfly Flower.

I decided to keep my design very clean-lined and minimalistic, using a favorite color combination - gray, white, and yellow.  The circle border and image are imbedded into the gray background paper.

I knew right away that I would use yellows for my flower and when deciding on my butterfly, decided to get a little help from Google images.  I found this photo and knew I wanted to use the top, right butterfly.  The shape was perfect, the butterfly was interesting and it helped keep the color orange moving around the card.  I then fussy cut a mate and doodled its antennae.

Come and join our sketch challenge this week.  Here's what the DT has created to inspire you with Deb's wonderful sketch.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #345

Happy Saturday, Sketch fans!  We have a great new sketch from Alex with a fabulous NEW sponsor for you this week.  Sami Siemers Ratliff is the artist behind the Etsy shop, Sami Stamps. I've used her image, Wildflower Beauty to create a birthday card for my granddaughter's 4th birthday.

As is the case with most little girls in the U.S., she is all-about anything having to do with Elsa and the Disney movie Frozen!  This image reminded me of Elsa so much when I saw my pal, Marilyn use it last June, it was a no-brainer of choice for me.  I love how this card came out!  The sketch was a perfect way to keep this beauty the focal point while adding a bit of little girl princess paper as one of my paper choices.  I inlaid my Lil' Inkers stitched circle mats and used sparkly glitter paper for the snowflakes and the band across the bottom.  Elsa's hair is fussy cut at the bottom, so I could crop the image a little closer to the left side.

I sampled around with my Copics for her hair colors, starting with the E50s, but found them too golden as a base.  Elsa's hair is the white blond, so then I moved to the E40s because they are a taupe-brown.  My colors are a bit all over the place - but I loved the combination.  In the end I used E41, 42, 50, with bits of 000 and 33. Her skin uses my favorite combination for caucasian skin - E00, 21.  I added just a touch of 11 and some R11 on her cheeks.  I usually use more Ell and R20 on the cheeks, but Elsa is more fair than that; she's a queen after all!  I planned to use rhinestones as an accent for the snowflakes, but surprisingly, pearls looked better.  The shimmering dress is achieved by heat and stick powder and Dazzling Diamonds.

Take a look at the rest of the DT's work on the Sketch Saturday blog and then join us for this week's challenge.  If you have an Elsa-lover in your house - you'll find the image at Sami's Etsy shop, here.
