Color Me Creative Challenge #90 - Show us Your Sparkle!

Paper Make-up Stamps is our sponsor for the latest Color Me Creative Challenge.  They generously offered the DT a choice of digis and I knew right away that I would love this Color Kid-High Five image! She looks like she is having so much fun with the paint!!  Since our challenge is all about sparkle, I added some Stickles to her hands, dug up some rhinestones for the side border and used another big rhinestone when creating my layered flower.
Sorry, no Copic colors to reference.  I made this card several weeks ago when I was less diligent about keeping track of my color choices.

Challenges Entered:
Inky Impressions #152 - Humor
Cute Card Thursday #314 - Floral delights
In the Pink #40 - Kiddie corner
Totally Papercrafts #212 - Think Pink
Stampin' for the Weekend - Spring colors

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #303

It's an anything goes week at Sketch Saturday!  Just pick any sketch from #215 through #302 and have fun!  I used Sketch #216 for my card.  The DT is using digi images from our sponsor Doodle Garden.  The sweetie you see here is called Bunny Luv.  Over the past year, I have had fun coloring artist Jennifer Nilson's images and this one was no different.  I kept her pretty simple as far as colors go.  I loved leaving the bunny white.  Putting the color behind it and adding some shading for shadows makes the white pop like a brand new white t-shirt!  Hurry over to the Sketch Saturday blog for some inspiration from the DT!

Sister Act Challenge #50

Digi Darla Designs was slated to be the sponsor for this week's Sister Act  anything goes challenge, but unfortunately due to health reasons their site closed, so Jenn is offering a different prize.  Stop by the blog to see what the DT has in store for you.

I'm using an Aurora Wings digi - Hydrangea Fairy.  Instead of the blues and violets from my last card, this time I made the flowers in pinks and used an oval die around her.  This week's Freshly Made Sketch #129 inspired the card design.  I wanted to keep clean lines in the card so the image takes center-stage and is enhanced by the paper choice.  I focused on her eyes with my coloring, paying special attention to eye colors and where light is reflected in them as I watched television. Aside from the shading, I added a little brown around her retina and a dot of light with my white gel pen.

I remembered to write down the Copics I used this time.  I always appreciate having a reference when folks list them, but usually forget to keep track as I work!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #302

DeeDee Designs is Sketch Saturday's sponsor this week.  Jenn put out a call for help with designing sketches a while ago and even though this is one of mine, I have to admit it's one I wasn't crazy about using it this week!!  In the end, I like how this card turned out, though. Do you notice - no coloring in sight!! (Well - just a hint in the candle flame.)  The die cut words are a companion to the Whole Lotta' Happy stamp set from WPlus9.  I discovered the set from this card while browsing the Splitcoast gallery of my friend, Maura (who is the Queen of Clean-Lined cards in my book).  The candle is a die cut from PTI.

Whether it's my favorite sketch or not, I loved to see how the other DT members interpreted it for their cards.  Head on over to the Sketch Saturday Blog and check them out!

Sister Act Challenge #49

Digi Stamp Characters, artist Heather Ellis' Etsy shop  is sponsoring Sister Act's Challenge this week. Heather has a variety of fun digis in her shop.  I used one of her Pure Innocence characters, and plan to knock another Easter card from my list with it!

The digi's jumper is plain, but I found a small blossom in one of my W Plus 9 sets that was perfect for adding the tiny flowers.  The sentiment is from a $5 PTI set from a couple of years ago.   I promise her face is not as blotchy as it looks in the picture.  I used Copic paper for this one and find that Cyrogen paper is easier to blend colors, so I think I may be switching.  I'd love to hear about paper choice from you in your comments!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #301 (and Blog Candy Winner!)

Yep, my blog was one of the secret candy stops!  I had fun reading the comments and was shocked at how much traffic the blog hop sent my way!  Wow!  There were so many sweet comments - the trickiest part was deciding on the comment winner.  I solved my problem by asking my first grade granddaughter to pick a number between 1 and 39.  She picked #16.  I'll be waiting to hear from Tracie to claim her prize of 2 digis from the shop of her choice!

Onto the Sketch Saturday Challenge for the week. . .  I went to my Just for Girls black and white sketch pad from Lili of the Valley and chose this little sweetie to color up this week.  I'm so bummed that the B & W pads are being discontinued because I loved the variety of their adorable images in the pads.  There are still a few choices of black and white pads left.

I turned the card sideways for Jen's sketch.  A 6x6 pad from My Mind's Eye provided the paper I chose.  You can see it influenced the Copics I used in my image.

Bunny Zoe Crafts is our sketch sponsor.  Hope you play along!

Color Me Creative Challenge #88 - Show Some Skin!

. . . and by "Show Some Skin", we mean to feature skin tones (not risque images!).  People come in such a variety of colors.  Digi Stamps for Joy is our challenge sponsor.  They offered the CMC DT images, so I chose these three sweet angels in different skin shades.  I love the variety of color tones in their eyes, hair and skin (of course)!

I got everything colored and as I was shading around the girls, the black hair bled into my BG000 (yuck!)  - it shouldn't have been a problem because I colored them on different days.  The C9 ink must have been sitting on top of the paper.  I contemplated starting again and decided against it.  The other thing I'm not crazy about is their halos.  I used Perfect Pearls and they are a little blotchy.  But when I step back and take in the whole card composition, the little things don't stand out.

It was a long week and by the time I was finished with this card, I was D-O-N-E (if you know what I mean).

Sister Act Challenge #48

The Sister Act Card Challenge is back again this week with Etsy shop Papers and Pencils as our sponsor.  My card uses a combination of stamps - Delightful Dahlia Additions from Papertrey Ink and an older sentiment stamp from Stampin' Up!  This is a CAS look for me.  Just a few stamps, scraps of paper for the sentiment panel and three rhinestones colored with Copics.

Here's hoping you join Sister Act's anything goes challenge this week.  We love seeing your creations.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #300 and BLOG HOP!

Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring a very exciting sketch week for us at Sketch Saturday!  Jo Edwards, the creator of Sketch Saturday is with us as a Guest DT member and we're bringing back the very first sketch that kicked off the blog to celebrate the Sketch 300th sketch.

I wanted to use something extra special this week because 300 sketches is quite a testimony to the longevity of Jo's original idea for the challenge.  I decided to color up the gorgeous image Hydrangea Fairy from the Etsy shop, Aurora Wings.
To mark this celebration, Deb has organized a BLOG HOP with candy hidden along the HOP.  You just have to visit each stop and leave a comment.  One person will be chosen from each of the hidden candy blogs and announced in a special post at 7:20 a.m. UK time on March 15th.

Clicking on the picture below will take you through the Hop.  If you arrived here from Vanessa's blog, the next stop is Alex.  Be sure to leave a comment on each blog (including mine) - you won't know whose blog has candy until next week's post.  Good luck and have fun hopping!  After you are inspired by the DT, make your own card and enter the sketch challenge HERE!

Sister Act Challenge #47

Milk Coffee is sponsoring the Sister Act Card Challenge this week.  This little cutie is one of their images called Lisbeth and Little Bunnies.  I thought this one would make a good start on Easter cards for my grandkids.  I loved coloring those bunnies!

I used Seize the Sketch #15 to finish off the card once little Lisbeth and her friends were colored.

Color Me Creative Challenge #88 - Flaming Reds

The Etsy Shop, Art by Miran is sponsoring the CMC Challenge this time.  I used the Big-Eyed Girl Winter Coloring page for my card.  Can I tell you how much of a challenge it was to color her hair?!?!  Holy buckets!  It was a stretch in a good way and made me realize that I mainly color straight hair!  I think I tried seven times before I felt satisfied.
Our theme is Flaming Reds, so you'll see lots of red on the DT cards for this challenge.  Red just brightens up a card, don't you think?!?

Check out the talented DT images and play along with us.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #299

Debra is our clever sketch designer this week at Sketch Saturday.  I used her sketch with A Random Fan's pirate to make a Valentine Card for my grandson in Colorado.  The same pirate was featured in another card a few weeks ago that ended up being sent to a four year old who is undergoing chemotherapy.  I was excited to give this little guy another try because I bought a C7 Copic, which I didn't have for my last card.  It makes for a much smoother transition.  I'm also coloring on Cryogen White - which has become my favorite paper for using my Copics.  I find blending easier than on the Copic paper and it goes through my inkjet printer without trouble.

Give this sketch a try and play along with us at Sketch Saturday this week.
