Sketch Saturday - Sketch #350
Happy Saturday Sketch Fans! My interpretation of Vannessa's sketch is pretty liberal, but I think it works. I used a stamp from Neat & Tangled for my focal point and added a little color with my Copics. The embossing folder mimics the circular shape of the image panel and the four white dots are supposed to be the angled rectangle at the top.

SPD - February ProjectPea Blog Hop
I had so many ideas I was thinking about to share with you for the February Project Pea Blog Hop. I knew I wanted to use the SugarPea's Tin Can Chat stamp set so I decided to create an easel Post-it holder with a matching beaded pen. Do you remember when beaded pens were all the rage in the stamping community? I still have supplies for them, so I pulled out some mini pens, the micro-beads and adhesive sheets. I am planning to give this to my second grade granddaughter, so the pen was a no-brainer!
You'll need to start with a heavy weight card stock for the easel and the notepad holder. I used Gina K's 120 lb. and it was super-sturdy.
Step 1:
To make the easel, cut your card stock 10.5" x 4.5" and then score at 5", 5.5" & 8.
Here's what the easel looks like folded. |
Step 2:
To make the notepad holder, cut your card stock 4 1/8" x 4 1/8".
Score each side at 1/2". Cut on one of the score lines for each corner to create a folded tab for when you construct the box.
Step 3:
Add your patterned papers to the easel base and 3 of the box sides. I cut 1 pieces of green card stock 4 7/8" x 4 3/8" the patterned paper is 4 3/4" x 4 1/4". For the box sides, I cur three pieces of green card stock 3" x 3/8" and 3 pieces of pattered paper slightly smaller - about 2 7/8" x 1/4".
Pen Supplies:
Scrapbook Adhesives Adhesive Sheets
Clear Microbeads
Staples Mini Gel Pens
To make the pen:
Measure the barrel section to be covered. For my mini pen (from Staples), I used a piece of patterned paper 2" x 1 1/4". The paper was adhered to the pen with ScoreTape, and then I rolled a 2" x 1 1/2" section of double-sided adhesive sheet over the paper on the barrel.
After pulling off outside layer of protective paper, it's time to roll the pen in the micro-beads. My micro beads are stored in an old SU clamshell box.
The border is the SugarCuts Die Heart Border |
This is my final post as a member of Sugar Pea Designs ProjectPea Team. I have enjoyed my time as a part of the Sugar Pea team. I've made new friends, grown in my skills, and been challenged in new ways. I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity, for Wendy Ramlakhan's generosity, and her faith in me. It has been a pleasure to a part of the talent group of women I hope to be back occasionally for special events. Please keep in touch!
Thanks for stopping by on the February Project Pea Blog Hop! Remember to comment and win on each of the stops for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate to spend in the SugarPea Boutique.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #349
I love the sketch Deb created for this week. There is something about the top panel's lack of symmetry that appealed to me. I know I will use it again. The Etsy shop A Random Fan is our sponsor. My card uses their Superboy image. It's an easy one to fussy cut. This cutie is perfect for me to play with because I need of three baby boy cards for friends and family members who have had babies over the past 10 days! I still have to work on two for girls too!
Take a peek at what the Sketch Saturday DT has created with the sketch here, and play along with us.
Challenges Entered:

Creative Knockouts - #77 Dots and Spots Challenge
The saying goes when one door closes another one opens and that is the case for me. A couple of my DT positions are coming to an end, just in time for me to start a new adventure with Creative Knockouts - a biweekly challenge blog that welcomes cards, scrapbook layouts, and other papercraft projects that fit the challenge theme. I am super-excited to be on the DT!
Team B is hosting the Dots and Spots Challenge - sponsored by Etsy shop Drawn with Character.
My card uses their image We Go Together Like Coffee and Donuts. I decided to keep the colors bold for my card because I picked out my card back first. It's from an old pack of cards I bought in the dollar section at Michaels. I loved the shade of blue and the big polka dots. I only have a couple left. I didn't use them as fast as I thought I would. If you like this digi, there are other cute ones in the "We Go Together" series too! Check out inspiration from the other gals on Team B here! You have until March 4th to play along with the Dots and Spots challenge. I hope to see your entry in the gallery!

SugarPea Designs February Challenge - Shaker Cards
SugarPea Designs' February theme challenge is to create a Shaker Card. Who doesn't love a shaker card?!?
I tried to think a little differently about my shaker. I had the Notched Heart Journal Die Cut sitting on my desk and in my quest to use my supplies, I decided to use it as my shaker. I made it using some tiny seed beads. Rather than have my shaker sitting on the front of the card, I die cut the outer shape on the card front and taped the shaker inside the card.
My stamps are from the set Happy Mail; I attached the mailbox and the sentiment flag to the card front, so it overlaps the shaker until the card is opened. The downside is there isn't much room to write on the inside, but the whole card back is available!! I know if my teamie Lisa created this, the inside would be decorated, too! Love her - and one day I will get there!
Play along with the February Shaker Card challenge. The prize is a $10 gift certificate to the SugarPea store; if the winner uses a SugarPea stamp, the prize is increased to $15! Simply link your card up at the SPD blog here. Good luck! I can't wait to see what you create!

Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge #4
It's challenge #4 for us at Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends. We've had such a great turn out of entries to our challenges. Thanks so much to everyone for making this a fun new adventure.
As usual, there are three sponsors this week. I'm using an image from one of our sponsors, Lemon Shortbread image called Daisy Floral Girl.
I loved coloring this girl and choosing a little different color palette from my usual pinks! As I was deciding on my papers, I just reached into my scrap drawers and used what was already cut. I just had to trim some length from a few pieces. I wish I could say it made a dent in the paper in the drawers, but it really didn't!
Come and play along with us this week. Our Sponsors are:
Michelle R. Designs
Sami Stamps
Lemon Shortbread Digi Stamps
Challenges Entered:

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #348
This week's Sketch Saturday's sponsor is the generous, Simon Says Stamp! If you are like me, when I so to their online store my shopping cart fills pretty quickly, so their $25 gift certificate could go along way!
I went with another ADFD image, Ring Around the Rose, on my card. It's for a family who just welcomed their third daughter into the world last week. I hope they like it. I added Stickles to the dresses to give them some sparkle. (It shows up a lot more grainy in the photo than it does IRL. I think the Stickles were still wet when I took the picture.)
I hope you will play along with Alex's great sketch. Take a peek here to see what the rest of the DT and February's guest DT member, Donna have for you.

Southern Girls Challenge - Winged Things (Team Lou)
This is my last time posting as part of the Southern Girls DT. I have enjoyed being part of the group for the past six months and connecting with ladies from Alaska to "Down Under"! I know I will stay connected by entering their challenges in the future. You're in for a treat with the new DT members and the upcoming challenges!
How appropriate that Aurora Wings is one of the sponsors for our Winged Things Challenge! Their images are so unique and always stretch my coloring skills - which I love! This dainty beauty is called Fairy Dancer. It took me back to my days dreaming of being a ballerina when I was a little girl.
I've had this bg paper sitting around for quite some time (years) and it was perfect for this image. The movement in the pattern and the soft colors just called to me.
The fairy oval and the colored die cut from are inlaid into the card front. I love to inlay my die cuts. It's pretty simple to create the "Outside the Box" look. I just position my die and lightly mark the spots that will extend beyond the die cut. I trim those pieces (eventually fussy cutting them) and slide the die under all of the spots that will extend beyond the border. Because they sit on top of the die when I run it through my CB, they don't get cut.
I wanted to keep my Copics on the softer side, so the colors I used for her tutu are R000, 11, 20, 22.
Her wings are layers of BG0000 and 000.
Skin colors: E00, 21, 11
Hair: E41, 50, 53 and Y21
Shading: C00, C0 & C1 in the deeper shadows
Wink of Stella is used on the wings to give them a little shimmer.
Stop over at the Southern Girls Challenge Blog to see what the other winged things the gals on Team Lou have for you this fortnight.

Sugar Pea Designs - Sugar Sketch #20
Happy Monday, Sugar Pea fans! We are back today with Sugar Sketch #20. I've inked up On Target for my Sugar Sketch Challenge card. I thought I'd try some white embossing powder on kraft paper for this one. I think it turned out pretty well!
I carefully did some light shading with my Copics and finished off the T-shirt and pants with a touch of Wink of Stella for some shimmer. The bow is paper pieced. It's stamped, white heat embossed and then fussy cut. I distressed the edges with white kraft ink and then brown on top. The bottom corner uses a flower I cut from a page out of an old book and added an enamel dot in the center.
So now it's your turn! Ink up your favorite stamps or break out your favorite digi and use it in our sketch. There's a prize for the challenge winner to the SugarPea Designs online shoppe.
Play along with any stamp set you like, but if you use a Sugar Pea Designs Set, we'll increase your voucher to $15! Upload to your blog or any other gallery using keyword: SPDSS20 so we may check out your beautiful work.
Add your link to the linkup on the SugarPea Blog.
You'll find our current challenges on the side bar.
Over the next two weeks we will be featuring YOUR cards and projects with our sketch. Share them on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #sugarpeadesigns.
