Crafty Sentiments - Animal Challenge
I went pretty literal with the idea of an animal challenge at Crafty Sentiments. This is a digi called, Gaffi. I used it to create a card for a colleague who just announced that she is pregnant. Hope you will play along with us at Crafty Sentiments.
My card uses the colors from this week's Color Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers - Calypso Coral, Old Olive, and Lost Lagoon. Stop by and check out the gallery!
Check out the website for the new stamps and Christmas preview!

Sister Act - Challenge #71
Happy Friday, Sister Act Friends! Deasy Designs is our sponsor this week.
My card is another one that isn't typical for me! This one was inspired by this card in Heather's gallery at Splitcoast Stampers. She was a Featured Stamper and I chose her card to CASE.
I used a SU rustic polka-dot background stamp, PTI's Around and About Sentiments for the "thinking of you" for my stamping. The die is from Simon Says Stamp and the daisies are an EK success punch that I added some shading with Copics.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #323
Another Sketch Saturday for all of you sketch fans this week! Alex is our sketch designer and Bunny Zoe is the sponsor.
I have with another card from Penny Black's stamp set, Dahlias. This is a different stamp from the set than was used for the card I posted a couple of weeks ago. This time I used watercolor paper, embossing powder and water based inks to give a watercolor look to my card.
I bought the set when it was available from The Paper Trail, a wonderful online shop that is an especially fabulous resource for Canadian card makers. Chelsea is having a clearance sale, so it's worth popping over for a look.
Speaking of "popping over" - you won't want to miss the great inspiration the Sketch Saturday DT has for you this week. Take some time to relax and play along with us this week!
Challenges Entered:
Little Red Wagon #250 - Birthday
Crafty Girls #24 - AG
Southern Girls - All About the Texture

Sister Act - Challenge #70
Friday means a new anything goes challenge at the Sister Act Blog. Whoopsi Daisy is sponsoring this week. You'll have to stop by the blog to see the other DT creations and read about the fun prize in store for the challenge winner.
This card isn't one of my usual cards. You'll notice not one Copic was used - not even for shading! I was inspired by a card in Stamptek's Splitcoast Gallery. Heidi was the Featured Stamper at the end of July and when I saw her Baseball Birthday card, I knew I had to CASE it for my grandson. He'll be 14 this year and is crazy about baseball. I thought this card was so unique and graphic. Perfect for the occasion and the boy!
Heidi's blog post gave enough of an explanation about how she made the baseball to get me started. I Googled a baseball image, printed it in a couple of sizes and then used it as a template to guide the stitching and seam on my die cut circle. A little distress ink gave the ball some scruff and dimension. The letters are an alphabet from PTI and the stars come from a Verve die called Starry. (It was a great purchase because it gives a variety of sizes and I use it often!)
Challenges Entered:
Pause, Dream, Enjoy 8/12 - Kid Theme
Simon Says Stamp - Summer
Creative Moments #49 - AG
Creative Knockouts #50 - Favorite activity
Crafty Girls #24 - AG
Southern Girls - All about texture

Crafty Sentiments - Anything Goes for August
Hi Everyone,
Back with another Anything Goes challenge from Crafty Sentiments. I decided to use the same image as last time, Pat with Flowers, but give her a different look. Instead of the CAS card, this one has some embellishments, a plaid skirt, and a little lace trim! The "hello" was already on my desk and gave the perfect little something tying the turquoise from the bouquet back into the card. Play along with the challenge this week and show us your creativity!
Challenges Entered:
Through the Craft Room Door - AG
613 Avenue Create #84 - AG with summer/senses
Fan-Tastic Tuesday #48 - AG

Sketch Saturday - Sketch # 322
Saturday means a new sketch for this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge. Simon Says Stamp is the sponsor and Deb's the designer. A great sketch and the combination of paper and image led to a fun card to compose. I've found that having the right paper makes all of the different in the world when creating a card. At least that's what I keep telling myself to justify buying paper when I have stacks of 12x12 and 6x6 pads at home! I saw a sign that read, "I'm one sheet of designer paper away from being considered a hoarder."
I've been a fan of Lil' Inker Designs lately and have gotten such good used of their stitched dies. The last time I made a purchase, I took a closer look at their stamps and was drawn to the set I've used called, Snarky Lady. I loved the prim and proper looking woman and the "snarky" sentiments such as You had me at Merlot, Happy Birthday! Remind me how old you are pretending to be? and My dreams of being thin are often interrupted by the sounds of my own chewing. I hope there is another set coming in the future!
Challenges Entered:
Inky Chicks #35 - Photo inspiration ( the skin and the bg paper)
Crafting by Designs - Vintage/Shabby Chic

Sister Act - Challenge #69
Stitchy Bear is sponsoring this week's Sister Act challenge. I chose to use Apple Blossom, one of the images they provided to the DT. It was a great one to color, even though it took a couple of trials before I settled on a color I liked for the blossoms. My coloring challenge was trying to give the illusion of 3-D petals that bent in and out. I'm satisfied with the result. I love the soft, almost vintage feel of this card.
Check out the Sister Act blog to see what the DT has in store for you for this week's anything goes challenge.
Copics Used:
Apple blossom - R000, 81, 83; contrast R20
Leaves - YG00, 25, G20, 25; contrast YG67
Background - BG0000, 000, hint of 11
Challenges Entered:
Through the Craft Room Door (Aug. 5th) - AG
Crafting from the Heart #30 - AG

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #321
It's Laura's week to host Sketch Saturday. She's brought us a terrific sketch and introduced us to a new Etsy Shop called Lee H Illustrations. I am using their image called Girl Holding A Present. I love her pigtails and sweet, happy face. Can't you just picture this happening IRL when a little one is carrying a present as big a she is?!? Check out the rest of the DT's inspiration and play along with us at Sketch Saturday this week.
