Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge #2

Welcome to my blog!  You've landed on my post for the second-ever  Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends card challenge!
If you are looking for my Sketch Saturday Post, you'll find it here.
My SugarPea Sweet 2 Repeat post is here.

My Lil' Patch card features Bugaboo's Morning Coffee digital image.  I've had a couple of these kind of mornings lately, so I can relate!! I generated the sentiment with my computer and doodled the boxes around the words before I cut them out.  Inside the card uses the same word format and says . . . I have a problem without it!

Lil' Patch Of Crafty Friends is an anything goes challenge posting at 9:00 a.m. AEST (Brisbane) on the first and third Sundays of the month.  Denise and Amy have spent a lot of time and energy getting the blog off of the ground!  It's a great DT and each challenge has THREE sponsors!  That's three times the number of winners!!  Stop by the blog and take a look at what the DT did with images from all three sponsors.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #344

Welcome Sketchers, to a new challenge!  This happens to be my sketch  design and it's simplicity allows you a lot of creative freedom.  You can see I turned the sketch and gave it a horizontal orientation.

My card uses an old stamp I bought years ago, but I love to pull it out and ink it up.  This one accompanied a shower gift for my niece in Chicago.  She's due in about 10 days.  It's her first baby.  The parents have decided to be surprised about the baby's gender, hence the neutral colors!

Play along with us at Sketch Saturday this week.  Bunny Zoe is sponsoring us again and they have so many cute images to choose from!  Check out what the other DT members have for you here!

SugarPea Designs - January Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop!

It's time again for our Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop! Our Pod Squad of designers are geared up to inspire you with even MORE creative possibilities featuring the newest SugarPea Designs stamps and dies from the January 2015 release.

Here's the card I promised you on Monday.  No coloring - just new SPD dies, an embossing folder, a sentiment, and white heat embossing powder.  Do you ever have those occasions when you have an idea in your head for a card and it actually turns out on paper?  This was one of those cards for me - AND it has the CAS look I admire yet have to work at. This card wasn't work at all; it was pure pleasure as I puttered around making it.

Hearts are a favorite of mine, so the new heart dies are right up my alley!  The SugarCuts Notched Heart Journal Card die is the focal point of my card.  I used the SugarCuts Heart Border die to create the filled hearts.  The small hearts are the negative centers of the die cut and unfilled colored heart shapes are from the die cut border too - just cut apart.  I used the frame from SugarCuts Heart Journal Card die to cut the shape for the white paper under my patterned notched heart die cut.  A sentiment from the Special Delivery stamp set finished things off.  The die cut word love takes the place of the word on the stamp (which I masked) before stamping with VersaMark and finishing with white embossing powder. These three dies are a perfect fit, like Cinderella's shoe!

Southern Girls Challenge - New Beginnings (Team Lou)

Happy New Year!  This is the first Southern Girls Challenge of the new year.  The theme is "New Beginnings"  In the new year, I am trying to use up my supplies rather than hoard them, so my new beginning is to color white pearls to match the color scheme rather than buy something new.  The white frame, the coral die cut, the birthday tag and the embossed bg paper were all on my mess of a desk, so I just trimmed them and used them!  How cool is that?!?!  I love when that happens - a little less to put away.  Wink of Stella and Stickles are used to add sparkle in all of the right places.

This challenge is sponsored by Lacy Sunshine.  I am enamored with the big eyes on their girls!  This cutie is called Lovee Ethereal Enchantress and she would be wonderful for so many occasions.  I decided to use mine for a birthday, but the hearts make her a perfect image for Valentine's Day.

It seems like a while since my last Southern Girls post, so I'm glad to be back!  In 2015, we have a new look to our blog header and we'll have a new challenge every fortnight (two weeks), so you'll see more from each team. Take a couple of minutes and pop over to the Southern Girls Blog to be inspired by the rest of Team Lou!  We'd love to have you play along!

Sugar Pea Designs - Sugar Sketch Challenge #18

Aren't you going crazy for all of the new releases from SugarPea Designs?  The stamps and the dies are fabulous and so much fun to play with.  I can hardly wait to ink up every one of them!!

My Sugar Sketch Challenge card uses the stamp set Classroom Cupids.  There are so many cute combinations that would make simple cards for a crew of kids.  If I was still teaching first grade, this one would be on my "must have" list so I could make Valentines for my class!

My intention with this card is a Valentine for my 14 year old grandson.  I wanted to make it a bit sophisticated.  I could totally see using the guitar stamp and sentiment as a birthday card or to send congratulations!  I stamped the guitar on patterned paper and heat embossed it in black.  The sentiment is heat embossed in white.  It's hard to see in the picture, but I created a background using the guitar stamp too.  IRL, it looks nice!  I used the SugarCuts Air Mail dies on the bottom of the black paper and on the polka dot paper to give some texture.  The heart is a die cut from SugarCuts Heart Journal Card die.  The embossed detail on the bottom heat was perfect!  I added some skinny ribbon and a few sequins and the card was done!  It came together pretty quickly.  Make sure you stop by the other DT blogs and leave a comment for your chance to win a certificate from the SugarPea Online Shoppe!  If you need to find your way on the hop, start with the SugarPea Blog HERE.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #343

Simon Says Stamp! is sponsoring this this week at Sketch Saturday.  The prize is a very generous $25 credit to their store.

My card uses a Lily of the Valley stamp called, All Our Dreams, and is for my niece's baby shower.  She and her husband have decided to wait and be surprised about the gender of their baby, so I made it using more neutral colors.

The sentiment stamp is called Little Star from Verve and is cut using a stitched circle die from Lil' Inkers.  I brushed some Wink of Stella on the stars and on the baby's cloth swing.

Stop by the Sketch Saturday blog and be inspired by the rest of the DT!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #342

Welcome to the first sketch of 2015 for Sketch Saturday!  Bugaboo is sponsoring Alex's fun sketch.  I'm using their digi, Mouse - Candle.  It's the first time I have used Frantage on a card - although I have long-admired the way my friend, Marilyn uses it on her cards.  I'm still messing around with it, but am happy with how this turned out.

Take a look at what the inspiration from the other DT gals here!
