Welcome back for another SugarPea Sketch!  For this one I incorporated the gingerbread man from the Sweet Treats- Christmas stamp set, a sentiment from Lost without You and the two November release Sugar Cut dies, Gift Tag and Layered Treat Labels and it's coordinating stamp set.

I gave the sketch a horizontal orientation for my card.  It was fairly simple to make.  I planned where to stamp my little gingerbread boys and then used a wreath-shaped Sizzix embossing folder as my circle.  I cut the tag out, used an eyelet cover from my stash, and inlaid the Layered Treat Label in the center of the tag.



The idea I am most excited to share with you is using the gingerbread men as part of a wreath.  So many of the stamps from the Sweet Treats - Christmas set could be used in the same way!

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #239

Welcome back Sketchers!  Vannessa is our sketch designer and the Etsy shop, Art by Miran is  sponsoring this week's challenge.

I used Poinsettia and Girl for my card and decided to color mainly white poinsettias so I could keep her dress red.  I pulled a scrap of burlap out of the piles on my desk and loved the rustic look it gave the card and the way the burlap played off of the red.  What's a Christmas card without sparkle?  Stickles on the hat, the buttons, and the center of the flowers were the perfect touch!

Snow-one Like You!

Today's card features the Frosty Friends stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs.  I used the sketch from the Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog to create my card.

I masked and stamped a cluster of snow folks and then colored them to look more faded than the main snowman.  He's colored with brighter Copic colors, fussy cut, popped out, and jazzed up with some Stickles.

I had a hard time deciding whether to use the Do you want to build a snowman? sentiment or There's snow-one like you.  I decided to give the card to my sweet husband who makes me coffee every morning.  I'll save the other sentiment for one of my granddaughters, who sings the songs from the movie, Frozen.

It's the fifth Saturday of the month, which means you have the chance to go back through the Sketch Saturday archives and choose one for your inspiration this week!  I used Sketch #295.  It went well with the stamp I used from Santoro called, If Only.  Santoro is a UK stamp company; I found the stamp eBay and knew I had to own it!

November - ProjectPea Blog Hop

Welcome to this month's ProjectPea Blog Hop!  

Each month the ProjectPea crew is challenged to create fun and creative projects that are sure to inspire you to look at your stamps sets with new eyes.

I thought these stamp sets and dies would be perfect to use for decorating candles.  These are 3" x 3" candles I bought from Michaels.  Once I got started, I had a hard time stopping.  In this process, I discovered you can heat emboss the tissue paper!  The embossing stands up to the heat gun when putting in onto the candle!!  Whole new worlds opened up to me!!

Start with a piece of white tissue paper a little smaller than the candle.  In this case, I used 2.75" x 9".

When I create a backgrounds stamp like these, I use my Fiskars Compact Stamp Press.
It helps me get the stamps on the block straight and then stamp straight!  Once you have the tissue paper stamped or colored, you'll need your heat gun to adhere the tissue to the candle.



Hold your tissue paper taut against the candle and move back and forth with the heat gun.  I always start in the middle of the paper with my heat gun and then move to the ends.  The candle melts a bit under the heat - that's what keeps your work on the candle.  It gets hot at times, so you have to watch your fingers!

Let's take a closer look at the specific projects. . . 

The left candle is a vanilla one and the one on the right is white.

I started with the candle on the left.  It's simply stamped using the Sweet Treats Christmas stamp set and Cherry Cobbler ink.  Then I  started to wonder about using embossing powder.  The candle on the right is heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder.   The images are more defined on the embossed candle.

  

The Lost Without You stamp set gave me new ideas to try.  I stamped the shepherd and then embossed him with gold embossing powder.  I found if I used my Copics to color him on the back, the embossing powder didn't ruin my markers!!

One of my shepherd candles uses gold embossing for the image and the sentiment background.  The colored candle has a brown sentiment background. Both candles look wonderful!






And then, I had one more idea!  I used the Layered Treat Labels stamp set and the Layered Treat Label Sugar Cuts Dies.  How simple is this?!?  I just made a sleeve from some corrugated cardboard and used score tape to attach gross grain ribbon and then popped out the tag.  It's embellished with a heart from the die set, 2 red rhinestones, and a little ribbon.  Bam - you're done and set with an adorable gift ready to give!

Southern Girls - 100th Challenge Celebration

This is a digi from Lacy Sunshine called, Gemma Gumdrop.  She was begging for some fun colored hair and lots of sparkle, which I did with Stickles on her hat, the gumdrops, shoe bows, and the white streaks in her hair.

SugarPea Designs - SugarSketch #16

Back again with Sugar Sketch #16 for Sugar Pea Designs!  I used a few of November's new release products for this card.  I stamped the one of the Layered Treat Labels and used red embossing powder and the matching Layered Treat Label Dies.
The Sweet Treats Christmas stamp set finishes the card off.

I used kraft colored ink to stamp the "HAPPY christmas" sentiment in the background of the circle, stamped the holly leaves 3 times and layered them to give dimension.  Three red rhinestones are added where the berries are on the stamp.  It's hard to tell from this angle, but the die cut tag is mounted with pop dots on the band of paper underneath it.  The background paper is created combining the "HOLLY jolly" sentiment with "christmas" and the bitty snowflake.  I used white embossing powder for the background sentiment.  A snowflake EB folder was used to give dimension to the kraft card back.
