Karen has a fun combination of colors for us this week using Watermelon Wonder, Island Indigo, and Flirty Flamingo.
For those of you who are blog regulars, you know I am working to develop my CAS eye through this opportunity to be on the CC&S DT. Well, I thought I'd share a little bit f my journey with you. I created a number of cards for this challenge - looking for that "just right" CAS feel. I thought I had settled on the one with the punched border (below), but as I was running through the card in my mind, I felt it was a little busy to be CAS. I went down to my craft room the next morning and used one of my discarded panels to create the card on the right. It has a lot more white space and fewer layers. The bow is purposefully angled to compliment the diagonal sentiment. I like them both - but knew I was on the right track with the second card because it seemed a little plain to my eye!
I dug out a very old chalkboard-looking stamp set from Our Daily Bread and pulled out my Mini-Misti to stamp a solid background and used three Copics to color the words, IRL, the white letters are coated with Wink of Stella and have shimmer.
Pop over and check out the rest of the DT's inspiration on the CAS Colours and Sketch Challenge Blog. Hope to see your creations in the gallery!

Lovely to see your CAS developing process and the second card definitely has more of a CAS feel. I love how you added the bow to the angle of the sentiment. Wonderful use of the colours. Hugs Bev x
ReplyDeleteTough trying to make cards in a new-to-you style. I love the blackboard version perhaps without the trio of borders below to make it more CAS, but your second card definitely shows your CAS heart is progressing! Great job Cathy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the cards that your CAS quest is taking you on.
ReplyDeleteBoth are nice, but as I love blue, I am slightly preferring your first one!

Wonderful cards! I love how you did the ribbon!
ReplyDeleteYour CAS streak is definitely coming along! I love the hint of pinks coming through to highlight the blue background x
ReplyDeleteI love how you've colored the stamped image on both cards to add in the challenge colors. I stink at tying bows, but yours is perfect! I agree that the card with the bow is more CAS. It's fun to see the way you're thinking through your cardmaking. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cads, Cathy. I like how you've used the colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing both cards and your thoughts. They are both fab. xx
